24th July 2006

This protest is the first in a series of protests mocking the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. The SOCPA was introduced essentialy to prevent one lone person (Brian Haw) from protesting in parliament square. The law failed to stop Brian Haw protesting, but it also tried to prevent anyone from organising protests around Parliament. Protests such as this are very important in that they challenge this undemocratic law, which aims to prevent protest outside the place where it is likely to have most effect on the government - the national legislative house.
